Open this page on the phone travelling on the bus. Allow location access and keep this page open during the test.
Bus identity
What must be ready?
1. Complete Setup with your Supabase project URL and anon/publishable key.
2. Create the bus_locations table and enable Realtime for that table using the instructions on the Setup tab.
3. Tap Start GPS sharing. Your computer dashboard can then read the same bus ID.
Connect your backend
Supabase lets the bus phone send GPS and your computer receive updates over the internet.
Supabase project
Database setup (run once)
In Supabase, open SQL Editor → New query, paste this SQL and run it. This simple test policy allows the public key to read and write locations, so use it only in a private prototype with no sensitive data. Tighten access before a public launch.
create table if not exists public.bus_locations ( bus_id text primary key, lat double precision not null, lng double precision not null, accuracy double precision, speed double precision, heading double precision, updated_at timestamptz not null default now() ); alter table public.bus_locations enable row level security; create policy "prototype read locations" on public.bus_locations for select to anon, authenticated using (true); create policy "prototype send locations" on public.bus_locations for insert to anon, authenticated with check (true); create policy "prototype update locations" on public.bus_locations for update to anon, authenticated using (true) with check (true); alter publication supabase_realtime add table public.bus_locations;
If the final line says the table is already in the publication, that part is already enabled. The open policies are for local testing only; never use them for a production system.
How the test works
• Bus phone: open this app → Share GPS → Start GPS sharing.
• Your computer: open this same app → Live dashboard → enter the same bus ID.
• Both devices need internet. Keep the bus phone's screen awake during this first test.
Live bus dashboard
Watch the last reported GPS position from the bus phone. Updates appear only after the backend is configured and a device sends a location.

Approx. 29 km reported in the research document; current route/direction needs official verification.
A clearer bus journey.
Current capabilities
• Mobile-first interface and route research leads.
• Real phone GPS permission and coordinate capture.
• Supabase connection, GPS sending and remote live updates after setup.
• Map marker follows the last received location.
Not implemented yet
• Official bus GPS feed or authority integration.
• Verified route geometry, accurate arrival estimates, user accounts, production-grade access control or app-store release.
Privacy & safety
Only track a device with its owner's informed consent. Avoid collecting personal information. The prototype SQL uses open access for testing; secure the database policies before sharing the app publicly.
